Christmas in May

Are you ready fro more Christmas? I am really enjoying creating for this series, and I hope you are eager to see the 25th of each month to see what I have come up with :)

I decided to pull out a photo-polymer set that is not in any catalog, but is still available to purchase. It has great sentiments with fun fonts, and some great iconic images! And I dug out some Copper embossing powder from my stash to play with since it is all over the place in the new Annual Catalog that debuts in less than a week!! I only had enough Copper embossing powder left to do these projects as the stuff I had was from well over 10 years ago. The glitter ribbon is from the 2015 Holiday Mini, and I just know that you all are hoarding some in your stash right now, along with some of the Season of Style DSP stack from 2 years ago. Pull that stuff out and use it up! You really need to make some room for the new stuff coming soon, lol!

How about some Emerald and Copper, with some Playful Palette DSP?! Who would have thought this would look so much like Christmas?! This Ruched Ribbon is in the new catty too, and you are going to want to get all of the colors :)

What good is a gift tag if you can't write to To and From on it, right? This stamp is retired, but you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands! It is such a handy stamp, I will keep it forever. And hug it and pet it! Love it!! If you missed out on it, there are several resources out there for ordering custom stamps, and I highly recommend getting one similar. Here are a couple to take a look at rubberstamps.net and bossy Joscie

I am feeling lazy today, so I am not going to include instructions. If you are feeling the need for some tutelage, leave me a comment and I will help you out :)

Scurvy Awareness Day!

OK, so Scurvy Awareness Day was actually May 2nd, but I made this for the Creative Crew Holiday Focus Challenge in April as inspiration for the challenge. Then I forgot to get this post ready in time. So, I will share it now :)
The Market Fresh stamp set is on the Retiring list this year, which makes me very sad. I love this set. Stampin' Up! will continue to make this (and any other retiring set) until May 22nd. After that, whatever stock they have is it! So, if you love this set but have been putting off ordering it, now is the time! AND Dies by Dave makes a set of dies for this set. I am telling you, you don't want to miss out on this one.

So, here is my card. I used the Farmers Market DSP (super cute), Brickwall embossing folder, vellum, stitching, sequins, and rhinestones to add pizzazz to this card. And the fruit is watercolored, super fast and easy! And I hand wrote the sentiment. Cuz that was the quickest way to get that quirky phrase :)

I popped the vellum circle up on dimensionals and stuck a little nest of gold thread behind it.

I think I will send this to my daughter, just because. I think she would get a kick out of it :)
Who would you send this card to? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Stamp Review Crew: Guy Greetings Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2016/05/stamp-review-crew-guy-greetings-edition.html
Oh, I am so excited! This is one of my favorite guy sets! There are so many great images and phrases in here, and so many great ways to use it. Just wait until you see what we have done with it :)

Remember you early hoppers, we work out the kinks on Sunday evening my time, so if you run in to links that don't work, or incomplete posts, come back after midnight, US Central Time and it will be working just fine.

If this is your first time hopping with us, then I should tell you that we are an international group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that gets together every first and third Monday of the month to feature a single stamp set. We share lots of ideas for that set to get you excited and inspired :) You can check out the master blog roll on our home blog, and find all of our past hops, and all of the links will take you directly to the posts you are looking for!

If you are following along in order, then I am the second stop and you just arrived from Holly Stene's blog where she did amazing this with this set, I am sure!

I was so excited to use this set for a couple of reasons. I love this set. And Dies by Dave has a set of dies that coordinated with it, so I could make these amazingly detailed die cuts of the images!! I used 2 of the dies from that set on this card. I stamped the "world's greatest" and the tools image in Archival Black on Watercolor paper, used an Aqua-painter to color them with a touch of Tip Top Taupe, then die cut them. The rest just fell into place :)

I love the combination of inside and outside of the card sentiments in this set! I want more of this kind of sentiment, and we are getting it in the next catalog!! So excited :)

This one came to me in a flash of inspiration while playing on Pinterest Saturday. I was not even looking for ideas for this hop, I was just doing some blog work! Anyway, I was looking at some awesome doodles in a Moleskin notebook, and this card idea just popped into my head! Well, ok, it was in black and white in my head. But I had been thinking earlier that I needed to do a card with lots of color. I mean, just because you are a guy doesn't mean you don't like color! And this is a 5"x7" card also. I needed a bigger canvas to work on :)

While I am quite pleased with the way the card front turned out on this one, I am not so sure about the inside. Parts of it turned out to my liking. The anchors look good I think. But the hats are too linear, not enough radiating... Oh well.

I was really on a roll on Saturday! This was another flash of inspiration that practically made itself! I was reminiscing about our recent cruise, and thinking about how much I love to just stand at the rail and watch the ocean slip by. The colors of blue are so vibrant and pure!

See what I mean? I just took Pool Party and Pacific Point inkpads and some sponges, sponged onto some watercolor paper, then spritzed with some pearlized water (mix a little Perfect Pearls in some water in a little spray bottle). After letting the spritzed water sit for about a minute, I dabbed off the excess and dried with my heat tool. The anchor is another one of the dies in the set from Dies by Dave.

The anchor is inked up in Pacific Point, stamped off once, then repeatedly stamped up one side of the card. I really like these two colors together!

Ok, now let's go see what Kelly Kent has in store for us, I am sure it is fabulous Darling!
